WL Climbing Association’s 2024 Grant

Thanks to the financial support from the WLCF granting process, the WLCA successfully ran three Intro to Climbing courses over the May long weekend 2024. The WLCF was also able to offer a Specialized Climbing Day with teenagers from the Denisiqi Services Society on May 17th/24.
All said, a total of 24 participants got to learn how to safely rock climb outdoors from a certified ACMG rock guide.

Dane Shellenberg returned to instruct these Intro to Climbing courses, and once again expressed how impressed he was with the quality of climbing and the improvements to infrastructure over the last 2 years.
A wooden sign kiosk was installed by New Path Forestry at the parking lot of the climbing bluffs, and a 8’x4′ info sign was designed by the WLCA via Wrangell Designs and in collaboration with both the WLFN and the WLCF. In addition to an area map, the sign will include local historic and geologic information, as well as information about the WLCF and about local plants and species.
The sign was installed in the Fall of 2024 and is definitely worth checking out.
