The Grades 3-6 Trail Run (locally known as the “Mud Run” by students) was held on May 16th, 2019. About 400 students from 11 schools from across the district took part, and, as is evident from the pictures, the kids had a great time and really enjoyed challenging themselves in the outdoor environment. There were 4.4 and 7.7 km long courses with obstacles. The Williams Lake Community Forest was a financial supporter through the 2018 Granting Program, and provided funds for several key components including a tent rental to allow kids to change before being bussed back to their own schools, tools and building supplies to build trail obstacles, and wooden medals that the kids decorated however they felt appropriate.

There are funds set aside to support the school district’s 2020 and 2021 Trail Runs as well. The WLCF is extremely pleased to encourage children to enjoy our extensive trail networks and the great outdoors! WLCF Standing Committee Member Jim Hilton served as Honorary Race Marshall.
