The Girl Guides of Canada – Tyee Lake Camp’s new benches & tables

In the winter of 2019, representatives from the Williams Lake chapter of Girl Guides of Canada applied for a Community Grant from the Williams Lake Community Forest.

They proposed to build 10 benches and 5 tables to provide seating under the newly constructed outdoor shelter at the Tyee Lake camp.  Due to an unforeseen increase in lumber prices, the project was scaled down somewhat and 4 tables & 8 benches were built, while the remaining funds were used to repair the unsafe staircase leading to the Brownie Lodge.  4 volunteers from the Guiding Community volunteered their time and skills to get this job done quickly and safely despite Covid-19, and they look forward to being able to rent the facility out again for group camping someday soon as well as hosting Brownies, Guides, Pathfinders & Rangers in the years to come.

8 new benches and 4 new tables are set up under the shelter at Tyee Lake eagerly awaiting the next Girl Guide camp.

A Girl Guide bench is branded to acknowledge the WLCF’s support.
Safety first – the steps into this building were repaired with funds from the Girl Guide 2019 Intake Grant from the Williams Lake Community Forest’s Granting Program.
