Horsefly Volunteer Fire Department (HVFD) is pleased to report that the 2026 Grant for Medical Supplies Purchase, in the amount of $3895, has been completed.
The following new equipment arrived in Horsefly on March 15th 2026 from Stryker Canada:
- LP 1000 Automatic Defibrillator (AED) – $3541.24
- 3 replacement batteries for older equipment – $1213.72
Having current AED equipment is very important to HVFD. 80% of emergency call outs are medical related. It takes the ambulance at least an hour to arrive here in Horsefly from Williams Lake. Lives are saved every year because HVFD can provide this service.
The timing of these grant funds is especially good this year. HVFD purchased a used Ambulance to help with our medical calls, with funds earned working for BC Wildfire Service. All our medical equipment is now stored in this vehicle that responds to all call outs. The medical equipment is properly stored in a dry, clean environment and is easily accessed by First Responders.
The entire Community of Horsefly, and surrounding area has benefited from this project. The project is complete.
The project was written about in the Horsefly Buzz, the Community Newspaper, with WLCF being acknowledged as the funder. The project is an excellent example of how having a Community Forest in Horsefly is a benefit to its residents and visitors.
For privacy reasons, we cannot include a photos of the AED equipment in use, but below are other photos of our volunteers in action.
