Through a 2025 WLCF Grant, the GROW (Graduation Routes Other Ways) Parent Advisory Council organized a camping trip to Gavin Lake Forest Education Centre for all the registered students and their families.
On May 21, 22 and 23rd 2025 we had 52 people including our teacher participate in a very successful trip.
Our group was put into smaller study and chore groups as per the camp procedures and everyone rotated through module activities which included an orienteering lesson, canoeing, archery, climbing and obstacle course and a lesson about lichen. Additionally we were able to go swimming, do field games, enjoyed craft activities, go on a group hike and have a dance party.
Due to a minor miscommunication with the camp staff we ended up spending a bit less than budgeted which allowed us to use the remaining funds to purchase lunch for our year end field trip in Lac La Hache on June 24th.
Overall the trip was a huge success, everyone learned a lot through all the activities, students had a great time socializing with their friends and it was the highlight of the various field trips we plan throughout the year.
