The Invasive Species Council of BC has received funding to generate a paper field guide for little explorers to use in the Cariboo.
The guide has pictures and text showing a few different species native to our area, as well as invasive ones that we can all look out for and avoid spreading.
Printed versions of the Field Guide have been distributed to a variety of locations but you can help prevent wasted paper by downloading the field guide here before you head out into the wilderness.
Permanent signs with Field Guide content have also been installed in a few high-use areas.
Funding for this field guide was provided through the WLCF Granting Program. This project was applied for in 2021 and is wrapping up in 2023 but we hope you’ll agree it was worth doing properly instead of just doing quickly.
A large sign displaying field guide content will be posted at the west end of the Hydrology Trail to supplement field trip materials without creating waste in an area where cell service is spotty.
